We are a small but lively group which meets monthly. It is quite informal and anyone is welcome to raise issues with the chairperson for discussion. There has been no shortage of topics. One especially memorable meeting was at 2pm on the day in September that Liz Truss announced her resignation at 1.30!
The death of Queen Elizabeth led to the question of the future of the monarchy and the coronation of King Charles prompted an animated discussion on an inclusive UK of many faiths along with the role of the King as Head of the Church of England.
The nature of the government under Boris Johnson, including parties at Downing Street, Putin and the invasion of Ukraine, the ‘small boats’ and how to deal with large numbers of asylum seekers, the future of AI, energy costs and provision, climate change and green policies are some of the many subjects that we have discussed and debated often with very differing opinions.
We are very happy to welcome new members.
