You may attend any active, not full, group once as a visitor, with the agreement of the group coordinator, but to continue you have to become a member of Bedford u3a.
We were the first gardening group created in Bedford u3a and there has been a number of leaders over the years. As interest in the group grew we moved from meeting in the leader's home to a hired hall.
We are members of the Royal Horticultural Society.
At our meetings a few of us bring flowers from our gardens and we chat about them. We go through a list of jobs to be done in the garden for each month.
Members are encouraged to introduce subjects which we can all discuss and on which we can exchange ideas.
I like to keep our group as informal as possible and give everyone an opportunity to speak since we all come along to talk gardening. Sometimes everyone talks at once and I have to resort to ringing a bell for silence!
We replace our December meeting with a Christmas lunch.
For practical reasons membership of this popular group has to be limited to 30. We do have a waiting list so if you are interested in joining us please contact me to go on the waiting list.
