Wildlife Walk at Stockgrove Park

We enjoyed a walk at this Greensand reserve for our February 2026 walk. Birds came readily to the regular feeding place and we enjoyed excellent close views of Coal Tit, Robin and Great Tit with Blue Tit, and Nuthatch also coming in to feed.
Walking along beside the lake we were able to witness a Mallard mating display followed by mating with the poor female bird being almost submerged.  We also managed to take a look at the fascinating feet of a Coot.

Our walk then took us among trees where we spent time looking at mosses, lichens, fungi, galls and buds. These are often overlooked but we found them fascinating.
