Wildlife Walk - Summer Leys, Wollaston - April 2026

Summer Leys

April 2026

A group of 15 of us arrived at the Wildlife trust site near Wollaston, Northamptonshire to look for the wildlife using the site.

There was plenty to see including Brown Hare, Rabbits, Orange Tip and Small White butterflies and a variety of birds some of which had recently arrived from their wintering grounds.  Of particular interest to many of the group were the Northern Lapwing which were calling loudly and performing for us.  Several of us were delighted to see our first Common Tern and Blackcaps of the year.  We mustn’t forget the Cetti’s Warbler which, as usual, remained tucked away in the vegetation but was calling from many places along the way.

The Visitor Centre was open and some of us finished our morning with a welcome hot drink
